This post is about adopters and commitment, my little post about the problems breeders find.
As per my contract adopters must return rats they adopt to me if they should find that they can no longer care for them regardless of the reason. I have only ever had 1 return before this month, how ever I now have had 2 returns in one month. I do not enjoy getting emails from past adopters saying they are unable to care for their pet, common reason is moving. Let me say this, If you are thinking about moving please Please consider your animals. You adopt them and make them family, to me I see it like you adopted a child but they can't come into the new home because children are not allowed. Would you give up your child? No, you wouldn't so why give up your pets? If you can Not commit to an animal do not adopt it! Simple. We breeders adopt out in the hopes of the rat/animal being in their forever home till they pass away, we don't like having to hear they need a new home because you chose to move away.
That alone is not the only commitment I speak of, I also mean if you submit an application to me and speak to me asking millions of questions that to me is committing to adoption rats from me. If I tell you the wait for rats will be a while, and you still fill out the application then again that IS a commitment! Now, say things change and you say you can no longer adopt. I have no issue with that at all, I understand life happens. But if you don't email me back, give me updates on if you want to adopt then I will assume you do not want rats. But if you keep in contact often, then just drop off the face of the earth I will still think you want them. Point being, it is VERY rude to just drop one breeder and buy rats from a less ethical breeder just because you want them right away. And its also rude to just not let the other breeder know till they let you know that you got other rats. I'm not sorry that I do NOT breed for supply and demand, I'm also NOT sorry you don't see how much time I put into my rats and their offspring.
Please Only adopt from me if you are Serious.
Please return rats to me if you can no longer care for them.
Please Contact me if you change you mind about adoptions.
